Dallas Zoo animal ambassadors make appearance at the State Fair of Texas
(DALLAS, Texas – Sept. 17, 2021) The Dallas Zoo’s Animal Ambassador Outreach team will be making appearances at the upcoming State Fair of Texas.
The outreach team, along with at least seven animal ambassadors, will be at a stationary booth inside the Food and Fiber Building over the duration of the fair every Wednesday from 2:00 p.m to 4:30 p.m. The animals making an appearance will vary from week to week depending on care needs. Of the 40 animal ambassadors the two-toed sloth Lola and African penguin duo, Sid and Jazz, are expected to make the most frequent appearances.
The two and a half hour ambassador booth will feature guests both opportunities to interact with smaller animals and view unique animals in an up-close environment. The Zoo’s outreach team and animal ambassadors hope to achieve the goal of educating about the joy of animals and encourage smiles to families experiencing what will be one of the first large events in a post-pandemic world.
“We’re excited to provide animal experiences face-to-face again,” says Allyssa Leslie, the Animal Adventures outreach team manager. “It’s great to see that when we go out to these events, the animals choose to come out with us because they know they’re safe and it’s interesting for them to go to new places.”
